Lotus Flower è il nuovo singolo dei Radiohead. Vi annunciavamo solo qualche giorno fa l’imminente uscita dell’album The king of limbs ed eccoci qui a riordinare le idee e ad aggiornarvi con un video tutto da scoprire.
Già, perché Thom Yorke e soci non hanno solo rilasciato la nuova canzone in attesa di divulgarne poi il video ufficiale (come spesso accade). Bensì hanno fatto tutto in uno, sfornando singolo e clip insieme.

Ma torniamo al video di Lotus Flower. Certamente non ci troviamo davanti ad uno dei soliti clip enigmatici e fantasiosi della band. Ma ad un video che vede protagonista il buon vecchio Thom Yorke. Per alcuni versi potremmo dire un po’ alla No surprises, senza però palle di vetro claustrofobiche che si riempiono d’acqua. Questo volta Thom veste i panni di un “provetto ballerino”. La coreografia del balletto è firmata da un certo Wayne McGregor, l’artista che ha creato la “Random dance” e che ha già lavorato non solo per ambienti molto ricercati, come cinema e teatro, ma è stato protagonista anche nelle spettacolari cornici de La Scala di Milano e l’Opera di Parigi.
Altra interessante caratteristica di Lotus Flower è che risulta girato interamente in bianco e nero. Autore e produttore del clip è Garth Jennings, un professionista che ha lavorato in passato con artisti del calibro di: R.E.M., Blur e Pulp.
In definitiva a noi questa Lotus Flower… piace. Suoni ricercati alla Radiohead.. danze ipnotiche e la melanconica voce di Yorke ad accompagnare l’incedere ritmato del brano, conquistano subito dopo pochi ascolti. Ma non vogliamo dilungarci oltre.
