Per molti, quando si sente girare nelle radio la canzone Stand by Me, questa è sinonimo di John Lennon, dato che la canzone viene ricondotta giustamente alla sua interpretazione del 1975. A dirla tutta, però, Stand by Me è una canzone di Ben E. King, scritta da Ben E. King, Jerry Leiber e Mike Stoller per i Drifters, e pubblicata nel 1961.
Molte sono state le cover di questa canzone, e oltre a quella di Lennon, abbiamo anche una cover italiana, molto bella, realizzata dal grande Adriano Celentano nel 1962 e dal titolo Pregherò.
